On Monday, May 21, 2018, sophomores and their families gathered at Vista Del Lago High School in Moreno Valley USD to celebrate their completion of the CLS English Learner Families For College Program. From 2013 to 2017, the program followed a group of 325 long-term English learners from 6th-grade on, delivering a mix of supports along the way to both students and parents that were designed to get the English learners reclassified as Fluent English Proficient in time for high school A-G college preparatory courses. They succeeded at an astounding rate - 83% reclassified by 9th grade! This celebration honored the sacrifices and hard work of the students and their parents. The program was funded by a U.S. Department of Education 2012 Investing in Innovation (i3) grant
