  • Student collaboration routines, essential skills taught in the math classes (as part of two i3 Grant programs, Power Teaching Math and Families for College) are an integral part of instruction in all classes at Badger Springs. In addition, the Project READ grant has provided professional development and coaching to infuse the collaborative routines for learning academic language in all content areas.

  • Instructional coaching is available to teachers through math instructional coaches, language arts instructional coaches, as well as an administrative coach and staff development coach who work with teachers to analyze data, unpack content standards, observe instruction, deliver model lessons and facilitate peer observations.

  • While supporting their PBIS program staff have also been trained in and utilize classroom management strategies such as Capturing Kids Hearts and conscious classroom management, trauma-informed teaching, and restorative justice to create a safe, supportive classroom environment.

  • Students at Badger Springs Middle School are scheduled into teams that share the same language arts and math teachers facilitating interdisciplinary approaches and positive student-teacher relationships.

  • To strengthen school leadership and instructional practices the principal participated in the National Institute of School Leadership’s Teaching for Effective Learning series. Teachers on the leadership team, department chairs, and academic coaches are currently being trained to deepen knowledge and support of instructional practices.

  • Students benefit from utilization of research-based curriculums such as: READ 180, System 44, English 3D, and FEV Tutoring in intervention classes.
